Some Common Disaster Ccenarios

File loss or data corruption

Solution: Restore from “Local Drive repository” or the Servers “Shadow Copies” of the data

Operating System Corrupted

Solution: Restore from “Local Drive repository” the latest C: drive image created by our image based backup tools

Building destroyed

Solution: Restore onto “alternative” hardware (bare metal restore) from one of the “Rotating Offsite Portable” drives.
Alternative: Send the portable drive to our data centre, Virtualise the server from the image and make this available remotely to enable you to keep working even you have no office or server locally anymore providing you have internet access. (Cloud Computing)

Regional destruction

Solution:  The client has the choice of full image backups or business critical data to be stored in our data centre both of which are updated incrementally on a daily basis. (Note: Full image backups can only be provided to clients with appropriate bandwidth capability).

If Full Images are stored in the data centre, these can be virtualised within hours and the client given remote access via an RDP (Terminal) session, providing you have internet access.

If Business critical data only is stored in the data centre, then this will need to be mounted into a temporary licensed server, appropriate applications loaded and the client given access. This will obviously take longer than the above, but in a full regional disaster, resuming business operation within hours may not be a of the highest priorities.
